Hello from Akiko Yamada of Shukado.
In Japan rainy season has started.
It is chilly today and does not stop to rain.
Hydrangea looks wonderful in such rain.

Today I will introduce our exhibition.
This year is centennial celebration for Okakura Tenshin.
So we are hold the exhibition regarding with Okakura Tenshin this week.
Tenshin was a Japanese scholar who contributed to the development of arts in Japan.

Okakura, along with Fenollosa, is credited with "saving" Nihonga, or painting done with traditional Japanese technique, as it was threatened with replacement by Western-style painting, or "Yōga". 
He founded the Japan Art Institute. He was invited by William Sturgis Bigelow to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1904 and became the first head of the Asian art division in 1910.
Outside of Japan, he is chiefly remembered today as the author of The Book of Tea.

The exhibit is also showing works by his pupils like Yokoyama Taikan,
Hishida Shunsou, Shimomura Kanzan and so on.
And we have collaboration project at this time.

"Tenshin" is scheduled to be on public this autumn in Japan. 

The exhition is held until June 16 at Shukado galley in Ginza, Tokyo.
