Eishi
1756-1829
Ukiyoe painter. He initially became a pupil of Kano Eisenin Michinobu, then learned the ukiyoe from Ryusai and looked up to Torii Kiyonaga. In the beginning, his style was so-called a copy of Kiyonaga, but in Kansei Period(1780-1800), he produced an unique full-length elegant beauty with twelve heads high, which even gave an impact on Utamaro . His autograph is excellent as well and he left some pure and elegant autographs as he did in the wood-block print.
